Casual early, but by the end everyone’s dancing. Next, @rubyjazzclub - Brisbane’s only speakeasy jazz club, down an alley beneath Wickham St behind a plain red door. A 1920s vibe, live jazz from local and international acts, a wall of signature bourbons… it’s like the Deep South without leaving the Valley. Then head to @thealligatorclub.bne , at the end of a dead-end laneway. More food, more drinks, upbeat music - and it’s open every day of the week. Jazz, blues, funk, soul, a few questionable dance moves and a really good time. Finish at @le.royale.bar , a high-end cocktail and jazz bar in a beautiful heritage building. Seating’s capped, so book ahead (or drop in and get lucky). The house band never misses and this is one of my new favourites in the city. Is this night out your vibe? Have any recs?
