[ NEW OPENING ] This 1930s Art Deco Apartment Block Just Transformed Into Brisbane’s Hottest New Restaurant.
If walls could talk, @marlowebne would have stories for days. Once a heritage-listed 1930’s art deco apartment block, it’s now South Brisbane’s newest restaurant dripping in history, indulgence and atmosphere.
Step through the original Art Deco foyer on Merivale Street, or slip in via Fish Lane where a heritage bomb shelter, once home to the cigar bar Paladar Fumior Salon, has been reborn as Marlowe’s bar. Look closely and you’ll still spot the old Paladar sign etched into the brickwork.
The rooftop terrace peers over Fish Lane and private sunrooms make for intimate nooks to sip wine. Inside, ornate ceilings, vintage light fittings and polished timber create a cinematic backdrop, like dining on a historic film set.
The food more than lives up to the setting. From buttery spanner crab brioche and smoky trout potato hash to a 1kg T-bone charred over their custom woodfire hearth, every dish is designed to impress. And for the finale? A rhubarb custard trifle layered with jelly, macadamia sponge and cream, an edible masterpiece.
